Stashbusting Idea - Flat Spiral Bracelet
Over at the Facebook Group we are all a bit bracelet obsessed this month as we are planning and making our swap bracelets, in fact 2 people have already finished theirs and I must say they are absolutely gorgeous, I'm sure their recipients' will be thrilled!
Over the last couple of years, I have been vaguely aware of a stitch pattern called Flat Spiral and always meant to try it, but never quite got around to it. However this Tuesday evening I needed something to keep me busy so I tracked down this great video by Karla from Aunties Beads,
It's great for using up 4mm and 6mm rounds or bicones, my version uses silver 6mm Swarovski Pearls, lavender opal 4mm fire polish and 2 colours of size 11's.
Catherine from our Facebook group likes to use flat spiral to bust small amounts of stash and to create these lovely pendants,

Happy beading,

I love these bracelets but havent made one for ages!
ReplyDeleteI have a picture of little pendants I have made using the flat spiral method. I'll stick it in the Flickr pool later. Good for using a few odd firepolished beads when you don't have enough for a bracelet.
ReplyDeleteI love flat spiral! I also love the colours you have used Sarah!

Love flat spirals! Depending on the bead choice they could look casual or like a sparkly tennis bracelet. And so fast and easy!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! The colors you picked are really pretty too. I love the Auntie's Beads videos too their really helpful. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Beading,
Jessica
Somehow I've never come across this stitch. I'll keep it in mind for future projects!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Sarah! I've been meaning to have a go at this stitch for a while and now I've seen how easy it is, it's gone to the top of my to-do list :)
ReplyDeleteYour version is gorgeous, I love the soft colours you've used :D
My first bracelets were flat spirals. And I can't tell you how many stitches I've learned from Karla Kam!! So glad she's back at Aunties Beads. That's a great choice of colors in yours!
ReplyDeleteI love Flat Spiral! I went so far and did a triple spiral bracelet, made it so it fits without rotating and it looks like a cuff, so I gave it to my daughter. Very very versatile stitch done in any variation and with any beads. Great post. My bracelet is done, photos taken, and I am putting it in the mail tomorrow, so will send off my details and photo after I have done that. Excited!!!
